| Beautiful, sensual shapes and textures along with delightful colors are combined as you learn to create a self-supporting beaded basket. We will explore the use of several different materials as each basket takes shape and becomes your own individual work of art. Just as you are unique, your basket will reflect your own personality as you work. No two baskets are ever alike! | ||

| After traveling to San Diego, will arrive
at our Beach House, relax and then take some time to explore the Mission
Beach area where there are lots of great little shops and wonderful
restaurants. Stretch our legs with a beach walk, have a nap if you
have traveled far. It is a free day for you. This is your opportunity
to get to know our surroundings while we have a "Treasure Hunt"
of sorts, shopping and gathering elements to add to your basket during
the creation process. You may choose to have a restful dinner nearby; then, inspired from your day out and bearing your treasures, arrive back at the beach house, relax, have a drink on the verandah, gather together and get to know each other while talking about the experiences and adventures of the day. This is a great time to bring out your treasures and share with each other what we all have in our stashes. If you aren't too tired from travel, you can put together your beads and start the bottom of the basket. I will bring a mini "Bead Shop" of items for sale that you may wish to add to your basket or sculpture. In the morning, we will have a bit of breakfast, then, begin to work with our gathered treasures and the materials in your kit. Using several different sizes and shapes of beads, you will begin with a Sculptural Peyote stitch base. As you work the sides of your basket, there will be many opportunities to add larger elements to your design. I have been playing with actually coloring parts of pieces of driftwood to add depth and character. Attaching beadwork and ancient roman glass pieces captured with beadwork. This can be used with your vessel or made into it's own sculptural work of art. I will assist you in incorporating special elements into your basket. At the same time you will learn to shape your basket. This is when we use the objects you found on your "treasure hunt" in town. Shells, lampwork, cabochons, driftwood, carved bone or stone beads, charms or Milagros, wire and just about any treasure you desire can be added as you go. Working different beading stitches such as Netting and Brick or fringes into the structure will add more texture and interest. Surface embellishment takes this basket even further. In the evening, there will be open studio time if you wish to continue working after dinner. This Retreat is being operated solely by Jeannette Cook. | Terms & Conditions: Please review and understand the following terms and conditions for travel before registering for your trip to Hacienda San Diego. Placing your deposit signifies that you understand and agee with these terms. | ||
| Trip Cost: The trip cost includes
lodging, workshop tuition, Breakfast and Lunch. Not included in the price is airfare to and from the destination, travel and medical insurance, alcoholic beverages, project supplies outside the basic kit, and dinners. You are responsible for your own airfare and ground transportation. You must make your own reservations for travel to and from Lindburgh Field in San Diego, airport code, SAN and the beach house. The airport is about 15 minutes to Mission Beach. If you wish to rent a car, be aware that there is almost no parking at the beach house. Usually only one parking spot is available there. I will have my car there. Lots of restaurants and shops are within walking distance. It is a great walking town. Prices quoted are in US dollars or Euros and based on current tariffs,

| Trip Cancellation/Refunds: If you need to cancel your trip, you must do so in writing. The following cancellation fees will apply: |

| • 30 days or more prior to departure, 100% of any fees Not already paid to the owner of the Beach House for hotel, transport, or other purposes will be refunded, less the deposit. | ||
| • 8 to 29 days prior to departure, 50% of any fees NOT already paid to secure the Beach House rental, or other purposes will be refunded, less the deposit. | ||
| • Within 7 days of departure, there will be no refund. | ||
| If The Hacienda San Diego classes cancel due to insufficient registrations, a full refund will be made. You are responsible for airline fees as Jeannette Cook does not book airline travel. | ||

Cancellation policy of Hacienda San Diego: All cancellations are subject to a 20% handling fee. Reservations cancelled prior to 90 days, 50% is refundable. Less than 60 days, 25% is refundable. Less than 45 days prior to rental, rental fee paid is non-refundable. |
